That darn Bandicoot !

So, about a month ago. Sony revealed at E3 this year that there will be a remastered version of the Crash Bandicoot trilogy, and they are starting from the ground up. With completely new textures, models and levels that resemble the originals for the next generation console.

This sounds like a very exciting thing to come out from Sony, because to be honest, the attempt to incorporate Crash in Skylanders Imaginators is a bit rubbish. Now Skylanders at first was a really cool concept of bringing toys life, but proved to be an incredibly expensive experience that to me had little replay value and was more of a cheap money grab. Crash in the imaginators version looks stumpy , with a goofy attitude that looks and will probably respond very sluggishly, where as 90's Crash was incredibly responsive and had a sleek look to him that was cool whilst having an insane approach to things. Sony need to get this right in order to make it appeal to the generation who grew up with the originals. As getting Crash's look on point is key, with upgrading the texture of his fur and clothing but keeping that triangular look to his body.

Now the demographic for the game doesn't matter as the original titles where released in the mid 90's and was easily picked up by teenagers like myself and especially for the current generation of younger gamer's. What the remastered version also needs is to make sure it holds the same difficult strategy that the originals possessed,  as Crash 1 was bloody difficult but the other two sequels had diluted the difficulty which was fair. I'm more excited to see the remastered version of Crash 2 as that was the game that is much more personal to me and will delv into that in another post.

But really I'm hoping that Sony manage to pull this remastered trilogy off for the 20th anniversary, but the bigger question is will Naughty Dog be involved with development ? As considering they sold the rights for Crash to other developers it wouldn't be fair to not let the creators be involved with the process.
Who knows after the remastered trilogy Naughty Dog might get the rights back and create a whole new Crash franchise. Maybe I'm thinking too far ahead but it would be a really cool idea, who knows a Crash Twinsanity remaster. Although it was a good game it still felt kinda broken.

But anyways I'm happy with the news of one of my favorite game series being remastered and could hold good things for the future for the fans as well as the developers behind the games.
